Naritaya no Imo Mugi Buta

Raised on the gifts of Kasama City, Ibaraki — a brand pork finished on wheat and satsumaimo sweet potato in perfect combination.

Naritaya no Imo Mugi Buta (Naritaya Sweet Potato and Barley Pork) is a brand pork produced by Narita Livestock Co., Ltd., headquartered in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is produced as a three-breed cross — Landrace × Large Yorkshire sows with Duroc male — fattened slowly and patiently to 180 days. What this brand prioritizes above all is the quality of the feed and water. The proprietary designated compound feed (Kanematsu designated compound) actively combining barley and sweet potato is used, with fine attention also paid to the quality of the rearing water — thoroughly pursuing the creation of an environment for pigs to grow healthily. Through the effect of the barley and sweet potato-centered feed, umami is naturally drawn out from within the pig’s body, and when eaten, the authentic richness of the meat and the mellow sweetness of the fat both fill the entire mouth. The clean, non-cloying finish is a major appeal, earning high praise from many consumers. Since the lean also has a firm, satisfying umami, the quality of the ingredient can be fully enjoyed in simple preparations such as shabu-shabu and salt-grilling. Widely loved as a brand pork from Ibaraki Prefecture, it has been selected as a furusato nozei return gift and is also popular as a processed product such as char siu grilled over direct flame. With annual shipments of approximately 6,000 head, the producer maintains a careful, attentive approach to the rearing environment of each individual animal. Please do experience the deep, nurturing flavor of Imo Mugi Buta — born of the rich nature of the region and the producer’s commitment.
