Raised on the gifts of wheat — a Saitama brand pork with exquisite sweet fat and rich lean.
Musashi Mugi Buta is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture, managed by Nagashima Yoton Co., Ltd. Breed / crossbreeding: Three-breed cross: Female (Large White × Landrace) × Male Duroc.
Musashi Mugi Buta, produced by Nagashima Yoton Co., Ltd. — which has accumulated a long history in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture — is a highly individual brand pork raised on self-produced feed: wheat-derived food items such as bread, udon, ramen, and pasta collected from food factories in the Kanto area, heat-dried and processed at the company’s own factory, combined with rice milled for improved digestibility. It also attracts attention from a food waste utilization perspective.
In rearing, piglets born in Tochigi Prefecture move at 2 months of age to farms in Saitama and throughout Kanto, raised slowly until meeting the shipping standard of 170 days of age and 115 kg. Growing up healthily without stress in a hygienically well-managed environment produces the meat quality unique to this pork.
The greatest appeal of Musashi Mugi Buta is the richness of its meat quality. The loin core has finely grained sashi (marbling), and with the first bite a gently spreading sweetness and rich lean umami can be enjoyed. The fat is soft, with a nearly melting smoothness — minimal characteristic pork off-odor, compatible with a wide range of preparations.
The breed is a three-breed cross — (Large White female × Landrace male) × Duroc male — realizing fine-quality meat that draws out the advantages of each breed. Annual shipments reach approximately 38,000 head, distributed primarily through Kumagaya Meat Center and Tokyo Metropolitan Meat Market. Outstanding compatibility with staple pork preparations including shabu-shabu, ginger pork stir-fry, and tonkatsu — various cuts also available through the official online shop. Please do savor Musashi Mugi Buta — trademark registered in 2011 — at least once.
