Go Pork

Nurtured by the nature of Nara and 60 years of food circulation — a rare eco-feed pork of extraordinary character.

Go Pork, nurtured in the mountain village of Nara City, Nara Prefecture, is a Nara Prefecture-produced brand pork produced by Murata Shoten Co., Ltd. — which has continued for generations since the 1960s. The defining feature is a unique circular farming method of not using any compound feed whatsoever — processing in-house and giving food residues (eco-feed) including vegetables, fruits, and noodles recovered from food-related companies. This deeply committed rearing style — handed down for over 60 years — is widely evaluated as an advanced initiative, even featured in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ eco-feed case studies. The rearing period is set with a generous 200–240 days — longer than standard pigs — and by slowly and carefully raising over time, finely-grained marbling uniformly enters throughout, producing premium meat quality richly containing sweetness and oleic acid. When eaten, the umami of the fat that seems to smoothly melt in the mouth, and the deep inherent sweetness of the meat spreading with every chew, are the unique appeal of Go Pork. Shipped to Osaka City Meat Market — widely adopted at restaurants and inns in the Kinki area centered on within Nara Prefecture — with usage achievements at Nara Hotel’s restaurant as well. Annual shipments approximately 1,200 head — high rarity — also selected as a furusato nozei return gift from Nara City. Please do fully savor the rich flavor — like a direct reflection of Nara’s landscape — born of regional food circulation and devoted rearing.
