Hoko Fresh Pork

Certified by the Ministry of Agriculture — a clean, healthy masterpiece from Honjo, born of rigorous hygiene management and in-house bred sows.

In the quiet farming district of Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture, stands a pig farm that boasts a level of hygiene management high enough for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to visit for inspection. ‘Hoko Fresh Pork,’ produced by Minekou Livestock Co., Ltd., is a brand pork raised under strict hygienic management, combining self-bred breeding pigs with carefully selected designated compound feed, with a thoroughgoing commitment to the fineness of muscle fiber. A grain-centered, multi-source compound feed — using Nihon Nosan Kogyo compound feed as the base, with diverse grain ingredients including corn, bread crumbs, rice, milo, wheat, barley, and flour given in well-balanced fashion — appropriately suppresses fat content, producing a healthy pork with a clean, refreshing finish. For those who dislike heavy fat, or those seeking a clean, easy-to-eat pork, this can be said to be an ideal specialty. The breed is a three-breed cross — (Landrace female × Large Yorkshire male) further crossed with Duroc male — inheriting the meat productivity of Landrace, the fine meat quality of Large Yorkshire, and the rich umami of Duroc in good balance. Shipping is at 160–180 days of age, approximately 115 kg body weight, distributed through Saitama City Meat Market. Annual shipments of 3,000 head — a scale that maintains a system with a thorough eye on the rearing management of each individual — is also a defining feature. Pigs raised in a low-stress environment have finely-grained meat that does not easily harden with heat — active in a wide range of preparations including ginger pork stir-fry, tonkatsu, and shabu-shabu. Please do experience ‘Hoko Fresh Pork’ — clean in flavor yet with the authentic umami of pork firmly felt — at your table.
