Olive Yume Buta

Raised on the gift of Kagawa’s olive — a brand pork of fruity sweetness and a premium umami that is entirely its own.

Olive Yume Buta (Olive Dream Pork) is a premium brand pork representing Kagawa Prefecture. ‘Sanuki Yume Buta’ — inheriting 50%+ of the blood of the British Berkshire breed — given olive pressings, the specialty of Kagawa Prefecture’s prefectural tree, as feed. Characterized by a fruity sweetness not found in standard pork and rich umami — a truly dream-like flavor that makes you feel the difference from other brand porks from the moment of eating. What particularly attracts attention as the effect of olive feed is the increase in fructose (fruit sugar) — the fruity sweetness component. By continuously giving olive pressings as feed, the lipid balance within the pig’s body is regulated — the meat quality is richly elevated, realizing a juicy, rich yet refreshingly clean mouthfeel of the fat. With minimal characteristic pork off-odor — outstanding compatibility with various preparations regardless of Japanese, Western, or Chinese cuisine. Carefully raised by designated Olive Pork producers within Kagawa Prefecture — brand standards established in 2015, trademark registration obtained in 2016 — thoroughgoing quality management. Farm HACCP and JGAP also obtained — maintaining a high standard of food safety and reliability as well. With approximately 3,000 head shipped annually, the distribution volume is not large — but on the contrary, popular as an ingredient with a special feeling both within and outside the prefecture. In shabu-shabu, pork ginger stir-fry, braised pork belly, and any other preparation, the sweetness and umami of the ingredient stands out vividly. Please do savor this premium pork from Kagawa — once eaten, impossible to resist.
