Raised on a food-circular feed system and local ingredients — a healthy pork from Yokohama with sweet fat.

Hama Pork is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Izumi Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, managed by Yokohama Hama Pork Shipping Group. Breed / crossbreeding: Three-breed cross: Female (Landrace × Large White) × Male Duroc.

Hama Pork, raised at a pig farm within Yokohama City, is an environmentally friendly brand pork utilizing food-cycle feed. It was born from a unique initiative of boiling and dry-processing surplus food from school lunches and restaurants, and adding it at 20% to standard compound feed. By giving this feed during part of the fattening period (body weight 30–60 kg), the inherent deliciousness of pork is drawn out to the maximum.

The meat quality is pale pink in color, with white, finely grained, sweet fat — a defining characteristic. The lean is soft with a non-gamey, clean flavor, applicable to a wide range of preparations. In addition to simple pork sauté and ginger pork stir-fry, it also pairs well with shabu-shabu and hot pot dishes for slowly savoring the umami. The compatibility with Yokohama’s unique food culture is also excellent — incorporated into dim sum and prepared dishes in Yokohama Chinatown, widely cherished as a brand symbolizing the port city of Yokohama.

After production at pig farms within Yokohama City, Hama Pork is distributed through Yokohama City Meat Market to wholesalers within the city. Approximately 5,000 head are shipped annually, available for purchase at local supermarkets, specialty meat shops, and JA Yokohama agricultural direct sales outlets.

A brand pork embodying the spirit of circular agriculture that reduces food waste and local production for local consumption — supporting Yokohama citizens’ tables for nearly 20 years since trademark registration in 2006. Under a unified standard of 180 days shipping age and approximately 115 kg shipping weight, stable quality pork is delivered. A pork you can support simply by eating it — where the appeal of pork and an eco-friendly approach overlap.
