Waton Ajisai is a brand pork born in southern Kyushu — from Miyazaki Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture — managed by Japan Meat Co., Ltd. The feed used for rearing is an original designated compound feed blending copra flakes — remaining after extracting coconut oil by first pressing from coconut fruit endosperm — and 10% or more cereal grains. Copra flakes are a natural ingredient richly containing medium-chain fatty acids — said to greatly contribute to improving pig constitution and elevating meat quality. Pigs raised generously on this special feed — the fat finishes white and clean, growing into firm, taut pork.
Actually eating it — the aftertaste is clean and refreshing while, with every chew, a deep richness and umami spread throughout the mouth — a major characteristic. The clean aftertaste and the coexistence of rich umami depth slowly seeping out — a taste that is hard to forget once eaten. The balance of lean and fat is exquisite — the appeal can be fully enjoyed in various preparations such as shabu-shabu, yakiniku, and steak.
Japan Meat Co., Ltd. — headquartered in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture — carefully raises the pigs to 180 days of age at designated farms in Miyazaki and Kagoshima — commitment to the quality of each individual shines throughout. In 2018, trademark registration and brand regulations were also established — trust as a brand is also firmly established. Please do consider incorporating the white, clean fat and deep umami of Waton Ajisai — derived from copra flakes — into your daily table and as gifts as well.
