Boso Pork

Raised by the sea and land of Chiba — a soft, tender pork with zero off-odor. Let Boso Pork bring a moment of true quality to your table.

Boso Pork is a brand pork raised with care under the rich nature and warm climate of Chiba Prefecture. This brand — trademark-registered in 1987 — is raised by medium- and small-scale producers with love for each individual at 16 designated farms certified by the Boso Pork Sales Promotion Council. The defining feature is the commitment to the dedicated feed. By giving a dedicated feed enhanced with seaweed powder and Vitamin E, the characteristic pork off-odor is firmly suppressed — realizing a soft texture and clean umami. By continuously giving this special feed for 60 days before shipment, stable meat quality is maintained. The breed is a three-breed cross — Landrace female × Large Yorkshire male sow crossed with Duroc male. Through a crossbreeding line uniquely developed by Chiba Prefecture, a high level of balance between meat quality and productivity is achieved. Shipping age is 180 days and 115 kg — by growing slowly over time, a finely-grained meat quality and rich umami are born. The production area is 16 farms in Katori City, Tomisato City, Asahi City, Sosa City, and the Chosei area — after slaughter at Chiba Prefecture Meat Corporation, distributed through JA Zen-Noh Meat Foods. Annual shipments approximately 24,000 head. Available at supermarkets and specialty meat shops within Chiba Prefecture, as well as major metropolitan stores including Tokyu Store. Wherever the cut — loin, tenderloin, or belly — the softness and clean, refined flavor stand out. Equally suited to ginger pork stir-fry and tonkatsu as to braised preparations and shabu-shabu — a pork that allows the authentic flavor of the ingredient to be fully enjoyed.
