Fujigane Pork

Raised on the pristine underground spring water from 300 meters beneath Mount Fuji — a Yamanashi brand pork celebrated for its sweet fat and refined, elegant flavor.

Fujigane Pork is a self-branded pork produced by Maruichi Takamura Main Store Co., Ltd., based in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture — raised in an environment at 1,000 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Fuji, surrounded by clear air and great nature. The commitment to integrated management from pig farming through processing and sales protects freshness and quality through to reaching the table. The thoroughgoing commitment to the rearing environment is the source of Fujigane Pork’s deliciousness. The pigs grow up drinking mineral-rich Fuji mountain spring water drawn from 300 meters underground. Utilizing the blessed climate of the Fuji Highland — cool in summer and mild in winter — the pigs are carefully fattened in a hygienic environment with optimized temperature, humidity, ventilation, and space. A combination of designated compound feed and lactic acid bacteria is used for the feed — raising the pigs healthily while regulating the gut environment. Shipping age is approximately 170 days, shipping weight 117 kilograms — patient, slow fattening is also one of the defining features. The product of this environment and feed management is the meat quality unique to Fujigane Pork. The finely-grained, moist, and springily elastic lean, and the white, lustrous, strongly sweet fat — the two harmonize exquisitely. With minimal characteristic off-odor and an elegant flavor, the true value is demonstrated not only in steak and salt-grilling that let the ingredient shine, but also in a wide range of preparations including shabu-shabu, tonkatsu, and ginger pork stir-fry. Self-processed ham and sausage are also highly popular — spreading its name nationwide as a furusato nozei return gift.
