Raised on wheat and feed rice — a sweet, tender brand pork, born of Chiba.
Genki Buta (Energetic Pork) is a brand pork consistently handled from breeding through fattening, processing, and sales by Jelly Beans Co., Ltd., based in Tako Town, Katori District, Chiba Prefecture. Raised with care at self-owned farms (Sosa City, Katori City), the pigs are finished slowly over 180 days of age and approximately 120 kg — sufficient time and weight. The defining feature of Genki Buta is the proprietary rearing method using a dedicated feed with a high blend of starch-rich wheat and feed rice. By giving a high-starch feed, sweetness is born in the pork, and with fiber becoming finer, a soft texture is nurtured. The natural sweetness felt from the first bite and the moist mouth feel are flavors unique to this dedicated feed. There is also a thoroughgoing commitment to the rearing environment. Creating a clean environment where pigs do not become sick, and practicing a rearing method that causes no stress — the highest priority is given to raising physically and mentally healthy pigs. Farm HACCP was obtained in September 2019 and JGAP in December 2020 — the continuous efforts toward food safety and reliability have been highly recognized. After shipment, the pigs are slaughtered and processed at Toyo Meat Center, then delivered to the market through Hayashi Livestock and Kamakura Ham Murai Shokai. Annual shipments reach 56,000 head — a stable supply system realized. At the official online shop, fresh cut meat through to processed products are handled — the sweetness and softness unique to Genki Buta can be easily enjoyed at home as well.
