Iwachuu Pork is a brand pork produced by KAI Farm Co., Ltd., based in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture. As the first brand designated by the Tokyo Meat Market Brand Pork Association, it is widely known as a pioneer of Japanese brand pork — and since the establishment of its brand standards in 1995, it has maintained that quality over many years as a brand with genuine heritage. Raised under SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) hygiene management in a spacious rearing environment, free of stress, the result is a finely-grained, firm meat quality. Shipping age is 180 days — slightly longer than standard pigs — allowing a rich umami to accumulate fully. Approximately 28,000 head are shipped annually, reaching tables nationwide through the Tokyo Metropolitan Meat Market, Iwachiku, the Sendai Meat Market, and other channels. Iwachuu Pork has an impressive record at competitions, including the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award at the 10th Tokyo Metropolitan Meat Market Pork Carcass Competition in March 2026 — a pork held in very high esteem by meat professionals. Raised slowly on a dedicated designated compound feed selectively enriched with barley, vitamins, and minerals, Iwachuu Pork is characterized by a vivid lean color and a brilliant, mellow white fat — juicy, with a deep and satisfying umami. Its Vitamin E content is approximately 3.2 times that of standard domestic pork, and its superior freshness retention means minimal drip loss during refrigerated storage — a further reason why it is trusted.
