Sanda Pork is a locally beloved brand pork produced by Marunaga Co., Ltd., based in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture. Raised with a unique rearing method of adding bread crumbs to the original designated compound feed — with sweet fat quality and deep richness as the appeal — boasting enduring popularity centered on the Kansai area. Pigs spend approximately 70 days as piglets at Keikawa Farm in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture, then move to Sanda Farm in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture for the full-scale fattening period. Sanda Farm has a vast site of 13 Koshien Stadium equivalents — by adopting a fermented bedding-style barn, sawdust naturally ferments and processes manure, thoroughly considering the environment so the pigs grow healthily in a clean, low-stress, comfortable environment. Shipping age is 170 days — pigs crossing female Hypor with Duroc have a soft, finely-grained meat quality and appropriate marbling. The feed uses a custom-order compound feed unique to Marunaga Co., Ltd. drawing on long-accumulated feed sales know-how — the meticulous design with added bread crumbs and Vitamin E brings sweetness and umami to the pork. Holding Hyogo Prefecture Certified Food ‘Hyogo Anshin Brand’ certification (obtained March 2019) — the stance on safety including management of residual pesticides and antibiotics is also perfect.
