Raised in the land of Iwate — a brand pork shaped by the pursuit of uniform quality and flavor.

Iwate Junjo Buta is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Iwate Prefecture, managed by Hachimantai Farm Agricultural Cooperative and others. Breed / crossbreeding: Female (Landrace Female × Large White Male) × Male Duroc.

Iwate Junjo Buta is one of Iwate Prefecture’s representative brand porks, widely known as a unified brand promoted by ZEN-NOH Iwate Prefectural Headquarters. Raised with devoted care at carefully selected production farms in the natural abundance of Iwate Prefecture, the pork is recognized for its consistently uniform quality. Production areas span multiple farms throughout Iwate Prefecture centered on Hirono Town, Kunohe District — with farms including Hachimantai Farm Agricultural Cooperative working together as one.

Raised slowly through Iwate’s distinctive climate of significant temperature variation, the result is a firm meat quality and a rich flavor. The breed is primarily a three-breed cross of Landrace, Large White, and Duroc — a combination with an excellent balance of lean and fat, producing a refined, easy-to-enjoy flavor. In terms of rearing, a special premix containing natural minerals is added to the designated compound feed to further enhance the flavor and umami of the meat. The addition of seaweed powder to the compound feed is another distinguishing feature — pigs raised in good health have minimal off-odor, allowing the deliciousness of the ingredient itself to be savored fully.

The shipping age is approximately 170 days, with approximately 40,000 head shipped annually and distributed to markets within and outside Iwate Prefecture through ZEN-NOH Iwate Prefectural Headquarters and ZEN-NOH Meat Foods. After slaughter at the Kuji Meat Processing Plant and Iwachiku, the pork reaches tables nationwide via supermarkets and specialty meat retailers.

Widely enjoyed by many consumers as a highly reliable brand pork that fuses the uniformity of excellent breed lines with the richly flavored meat quality nurtured by Iwate’s nature.
