Bando Camborough is a brand pork named by combining ‘Bando’ — the old name for the Kanto region — with the ‘Camborough breed’ developed by PIC, the world’s largest breeding pig supply company. The Camborough breed is originally known as a sow line with high reproductive capacity — with a share of less than 10% of domestic pork distribution in Japan, it is an extremely rare breed. Shipping pure Camborough as a meat pig is a very unusual initiative even nationally. Fattening is carried out at US Japan Farm in Sekijuku-daimachi, Noda City, Chiba Prefecture. Thorough hygiene and rearing management at each farm — the pigs are carefully finished at 180 days of age and 115 kg shipping weight. The feed uses high-quality starch feed (barley, etc.). The rearing policy of slowly drawing out the authentic umami of the pork directly connects to the excellence of the meat quality. The flavor is clean while concentrated in umami, with a soft texture and moderate chewiness pleasantly coexisting.
