Hosoya no Marubuta (Hosoya’s Whole Pork) is a brand pork produced by Hosoya Co., Ltd., whose farm stands on a lush highland in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. In a nature-rich environment with a sweeping view of the Kanto Plain, this is a specialty born from a rearing philosophy centered on ‘pigs first thinking.’ What this brand consistently pursues is the best environment for pigs. Tail docking and teeth clipping are not performed — respecting the pig’s natural form; wood shavings are utilized to enhance barn comfort; and thorough temperature control and cleaning realize a stress-free rearing environment. Barley is used in the finishing feed, with devoted pursuit of meat quality improvement. For breeding pigs, pure Japanese breeding pigs certified by the Japan Pure Breeding Pig Improvement Council — improved in Japan — are used. The capability of integrated in-house management of all processes from breeding through fattening and shipment was highly evaluated — winning the Grand Prize at the 9th Tokyo Meat Market Pig Carcass Competition in 2024. Farm HACCP certification has also been obtained, maintaining a safe, reliable production system. Hosoya no Marubuta born from this rearing philosophy is characterized by beautiful meat quality with finely-grained sashi penetrating high-density muscle fibers.
