Kagoshima Rokkoku Ton

Raised on six grains — a Kagoshima brand pork overflowing with rich depth and full-bodied umami.

Kagoshima Rokkoku Ton (Kagoshima Six-Grain Pork) is a domestic brand pork that Ito Ham Yonekyu Holdings Group carefully raises at Japan Farm designated farms within Kagoshima Prefecture. True to the name — the major characteristic at the foundation of this brand is giving a designated compound feed well-balanced blending 6 types of grain: barley, wheat, rice, corn, milo, and soybeans. A unique blend feed richly containing wheat is said to have the effect of drawing out the authentic umami and richness of pork — said to bring a deeply flavored taste to the meat quality. Kagoshima Prefecture is known as one of Japan’s leading pork production areas — pig farming making use of warm climate and vast agricultural land has been active since ancient times. Kagoshima Rokkoku Ton is nurtured under that rich natural environment — slowly and carefully finished to approximately 180–190 days of age. By securing a fattening period longer than standard — the meat fibers become fine and umami is concentrated — a fully satisfying flavor felt firmly when eaten is born. Actually eating it — firm richness and sweetened fat, and juicy meat juices spread — a rich eating substance can be enjoyed. Not only fully savoring the umami in stir-fry and sauté — even in shabu-shabu and hot pot, an elegant flavor making use of the character of the ingredient can be savored. Trademark registration also obtained in 2023 — as a powerhouse brand pork where sincere commitment to quality management is highly evaluated — approximately 60,000 head are shipped nationwide annually.
