Kamifurano Town in Hokkaido is a land of majestic natural beauty, surrounded by the Tokachidake mountain range of Daisetsuzan National Park. Known also as a famous lavender-growing region, this is where Kamifurano Ranch Co., Ltd. has long raised, with devoted care, what they call ‘Kamifurano Jiyoton.’ The most distinctive feature is the use of a special feed additive called ‘Jiyoso’ — a mixed feed composed of natural ingredients including wood vinegar distillate, zeolite, seaweed, and mugwort powder, which promotes a healthy gut environment and encourages stress-free, vigorous pig development. The belief that healthy pigs directly produce superior meat quality runs through every aspect of the farm, with thorough health management maintained throughout the entire rearing process. Furthermore, in the finishing stage, a feed using only plant-based ingredients — with barley at 10% or more — gives the meat an appropriate firmness and a concentrated umami. Shipping age is 165–180 days, raised at a careful, unhurried pace. The breed is a three-breed cross with Large Yorkshire × Landrace sows and Duroc boars — a combination that produces well-balanced, satisfying pork with an excellent lean-to-fat ratio. Slaughter and processing are handled by Kamifurano Kobo Co., Ltd. of the Prima Ham Group, ensuring integrated quality management from production through processing.
