Kintonoh (Golden Pork King), a brand pork representing Shizuoka Prefecture, is a committed pork inheriting the bloodline of the rare Chinese-origin Jinhua pig. Kintonoh — born by crossing ‘Fuji Kinka’ lineage pigs uniquely developed by Shizuoka Prefecture Livestock Technology Research Institute — inherits a quarter of the Jinhua pig’s genes, receiving its premium meat quality and rich flavor. The greatest appeal of Kintonoh is its finely-grained, soft meat quality and elegantly sweet fat. The sweetness of the fat and mellow flavor inherited from Jinhua pig brings a rich richness and umami that spreads throughout the mouth from the moment of eating. Non-cloying with a refreshing finish — not only in tonkatsu and shabu-shabu, but also in yakiniku, sukiyaki, and various other preparations, its deliciousness can be slowly enjoyed. Quality uniformity is also committed to — raised under thorough production management at certified farms. With Shizuoka Prefecture Economic Agricultural Cooperative Federation (JA Shizuoka Keizairen) as the managing body — using Keizairen-designated compound feed, raised slowly over approximately 200 days to an ideal weight of around 120 kg. Annual shipments are very rare at approximately 600 head — primarily distributed within Shizuoka Prefecture.
