Osuzu Ton (Osuzu Mountain Pork) is a brand pork carefully raised at the foot of the lush Osuzu mountain system, in Kawaminami Town, Koyu District, Miyazaki Prefecture. Osuzu Buta Yukai (Osuzu Pig Friends Agricultural Cooperative) was formed in 1979 by 7 local pig farmers — continuing to deliver quality-committed pork for over 40 years since. For the feed — an original compound feed independently improved over many years is used — corn-based with soybeans and barley well-balanced and blended. Among them, barley plays the important role of tightening meat quality and elevating fat quality. Furthermore, by raising slowly over approximately one month longer than the general fattening period — firmly drawing out the authentic umami of pork — a commitment unique to Osuzu Ton. The meat quality is finely-grained and taut — with a faint sweetness in the fat. The minimal characteristic pork off-odor — combining elegant umami and ease of eating is a major characteristic.
