Asagiri Yogurt-Ton

Raised in the clear air of the Mount Fuji foothills on a lactic-acid fermented feed — a soft, tender brand pork that is kind to body and soul.

Asagiri Highland in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture — at the foot of Mount Fuji. In this land blessed with clear air and rich nature, ‘Asagiri Yogurt-ton (Asagiri Yogurt Pork)’ is raised. True to its name, it is raised on a liquid feed made by lactic acid fermenting wheat, soybean, vegetables, milk, yogurt, and others using a proprietary technology. This rearing method has also been patented (in 2011) — highly evaluated as a one-of-a-kind production method. Pigs raised eating lactic acid fermentation feed have their gut environment regulated and can easily maintain a healthy condition. As a result, rearing without reliance on antibiotics from 2 months of age is realized — enabling safe, reliable pork production. Also, by adopting a liquid-state liquid feeding method, there is less dust and the burden on the pigs’ respiratory organs is also reduced. The meat quality of Asagiri Yogurt-ton raised in this way is a so-called marbled state — fat moderately penetrating the muscle fibers. From the moment it enters the mouth it is softly tender — difficult to harden even when cooled — a major appeal. Furthermore, richly containing omega-3 and other unsaturated fatty acids — a pork also attracting attention in nutritional aspects. Popular not only in shabu-shabu and tonkatsu but also as ham and sausage processed products — handled at Michi-no-Eki Asagiri Kogen and also via furusato nozei. Has received high evaluation both domestically and internationally — winning the Shizuoka Prefecture New Business Award (in 2005) and entries in the FOOD ACTION NIPPON Award 2010 and 2011. Please do try Asagiri Yogurt-ton — raised receiving the full bounty of Mount Fuji — at least once.
