Wakakusu Pork

Raised in the majestic nature of Takeo, Saga — a masterpiece three-way cross pork of zero off-odor and exceptional tenderness.

Wakakusu Pork, named after the natural monument ‘Kawagono no Okusu’ — a giant camphor tree over 3,000 years old in Wakagi Town, Takeo City, Saga Prefecture — is a brand pork carefully raised in a land blessed with rich nature and clear water. Production began in Heisei 4 (1992). Since then, consistently valuing technical improvement and environmental consideration — producers sharing the same aspirations have joined forces to build this brand under the wish of delivering healthy, delicious pork. One of the major characteristics of Wakakusu Pork is the production method of unifying the sow across all cooperative members. Piglets born from excellent, well-managed sows grow freely in the clear air and pure water of Wakagi Town. The pork thus raised has minimal off-odor — finely-grained, soft, and easy to eat with a clean flavor as the character. The fat quality is good — richly containing quality protein and Vitamin B1 supporting fatigue recovery as well — a pork that is not only delicious but also good for the body. Even simply grilled with only salt, the inherent umami of the meat is firmly felt — the quality of the ingredient stands out. Within Takeo City, many restaurants also serve it as shabu-shabu and lemon shabu — a pork long beloved by local people. The achievement of once recording the highest national value for meat quality also speaks to the high quality. Also popular as a furusato nozei return gift — receiving high evaluation enough to receive orders from throughout the country. Please do savor at your table Wakakusu Pork — nurtured by Saga’s rich earth and clear streams.
