Yanbaru Ton

Raised in the nature of Yanbaru — an Okinawa brand pork overflowing with deep umami and a gentle, natural sweetness.

Yanbaru Ton (Yanbaru Pork), raised in the ‘Yanbaru’ land with rich nature spreading in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island, is a brand pork that Ganaha Livestock Co., Ltd. produces with devoted care. At the farm located in Nago City — while giving clean air and Yanbaru’s bountiful natural water — rearing management minimizing stress to the absolute minimum is thoroughly maintained every day without fail. For the feed — a unique designated compound feed is given blending diverse ingredients centered on wheat — including fossil coral from Yonaguni Island, awamori sake lees, seaweed, mugwort, beer yeast, and molasses. Fossil coral from Yonaguni Island contains calcium and 70+ minerals including magnesium and potassium — playing an important role firmly supporting the pig’s skeleton and health from within. Also, the unique initiative of regularly spreading EM bacteria (effective microorganisms) to the farm — regulating the pig’s internal and external environment is also practiced. Through the accumulation of such devoted rearing — Yanbaru Ton finishes as pork with minimal gaminess and outstanding fat sweetness and richness spreading gently in the mouth. Richly containing glutamic acid and deep in umami — outstanding compatibility also with traditional Okinawan preparations including shabu-shabu where the authentic flavor of the ingredient can be savored, soki soba, and rafute. Trademark registered — shipping approximately 9,000 head annually — after slaughter at Nago City Meat Center — delivered to consumers’ tables. Please do enjoy the rich umami nurtured by the Yanbaru earth — together with its flavor.
