‘Ryukyu Moto Buta Agu’ is a brand pork handled by Ryukyu Feed Co., Ltd., based in Urasoe City, Okinawa Prefecture. A cross breed having Ryukyu indigenous Aguu male and LW lineage female (Landrace × Large Yorkshire cross) as parents — quality is strictly guaranteed under the brand standards and trademark management established by JA Okinawa Brand Pork Promotion Council. The name ‘agu’ was trademark registered in 1996 — only producers going through proper procedures are permitted to use it. By raising slowly over approximately 240 days before shipping — a deep umami is stored in the meat more than standard pigs. The defining feature is the low fat melting point.
