From the foothills of the Tokachi volcanic range — a Hokkaido brand pork nurtured by the gifts of Jiyoso and grain.

Kamifurano Jiyoton is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Kamifurano Town, Sorachi District, Hokkaido, managed by Kamifurano Farm Co., Ltd. Breed / crossbreeding: Female (Large White × Landrace) × Male: Duroc.

Kamifurano Town in Hokkaido is a land of majestic natural beauty, surrounded by the Tokachidake mountain range of Daisetsuzan National Park. Known also as a famous lavender-growing region, this is where Kamifurano Farm Co., Ltd. has long raised, with devoted care, what they call ‘Kamifurano Jiyoton.’ The most distinctive feature is the use of a special feed additive called ‘Jiyoso’ — a mixed feed composed of natural ingredients including wood vinegar distillate, zeolite, seaweed, and mugwort powder, which promotes a healthy gut environment and encourages the healthy growth of pigs with little stress.

The belief that healthy pigs directly lead to good meat quality runs through every aspect of the farm, with thorough health management maintained throughout the entire rearing process. Furthermore, in the finishing stage, a feed using only plant-based ingredients — with cereal grains such as barley and wheat at 10% or more — gives the meat an appropriate firmness and a concentrated umami. The shipping age is 165–180 days, with the pigs raised at a careful, unhurried pace.

The breed is a three-breed cross with Large White × Landrace sows and Duroc boars — a combination that produces well-balanced, satisfying pork with an excellent lean-to-fat ratio. Slaughter and processing are handled by Kamifurano Kobo Co., Ltd. of the Prima Ham Group, ensuring integrated quality management from production through processing.

The fat’s sweetness and richness spread through the mouth while the finish remains refreshingly clean — this is the true character of Kamifurano Jiyoton. Please enjoy its rich, full flavor in butadon, sagari (diaphragm) yakiniku, shabu-shabu, and more.
