Raised in the pure, pristine land of the Osumi Peninsula — a pork of the native black pig’s true sweetness of fat and a juicy, honest umami.

Yagorou Don is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Soo City, Kagoshima Prefecture, managed by Oonari Chikusan Co., Ltd. Breed / crossbreeding: Berkshire (pure breed — individuals with superior fat quality selected).

Yagorou Don is an original brand pork of Oonari Chikusan Co., Ltd. raised in the nature-rich hilly land of the Osumi Peninsula, Kagoshima Prefecture. The company is headquartered in Osumi Town, Soo City, Kagoshima Prefecture — carefully raising pigs at 2 locations: the main farm and Kushira Farm. By separating production and fattening with a 2-site system — hygiene management is thoroughly maintained — a system of delivering safe, reliable pork to consumers is established.

The breed is pure Berkshire — to draw out the rich fat quality and deep umami unique to black pig to the maximum — individuals excellent in fat quality have been strictly selected and crossing has been repeated. The feed uses company original designated compound feed — primarily cereals such as milo, wheat, and feed rice — with bread crumbs, confectionery powder, and lactic acid bacteria independently blended and given — suppressing the characteristic pork gaminess — finishing with soft, juicy meat quality. Shipping at 190–210 days of age — raised slowly and carefully over more time than standard pigs — with only energetic, healthy pigs reaching approximately 115 kg body weight strictly selected for shipping — the fineness of the white meat and meat quality stands out.

The meat quality is characterized by firm sweetness, elegant fat sweetness, and soft, juicy texture. Even in simple preparation with only salt and pepper, the authentic umami of pork is fully felt — the deliciousness can be savored in various preparations such as shabu-shabu and yakiniku. Farm HACCP has also been obtained — high consciousness toward hygiene and quality management is recognized. Please do try Yagorou Don at least once — raised freely in the beautiful air and water of Kagoshima’s great nature.
