Akita Rokkoku Ton (Akita Six-Grain Pork) is a domestic brand pork developed by Ito Ham-Yonekyu Holdings, produced primarily at the designated farm ‘Nishinomori Farm’ in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, in an integrated production system. Its greatest defining feature is a proprietary dedicated compound feed based on six grains: wheat, barley, rice, corn, milo (sorghum), and soybean. The starch-rich wheat, barley, and rice draw out a rich, authentic pork umami, while corn, milo, and soybean supply the necessary nutritional balance — producing a pork with both a firm, structured meat quality and an elegantly textured fat. This six-grain feed formulation is an original composition developed uniquely by the Ito Ham-Yonekyu Group, cultivating a deep richness and abundant umami as a defining characteristic. The designated farm, Nishinomori Farm, is equipped with state-of-the-art rearing facilities, using IoT-based climate control and automated feeding systems to maintain a clean, comfortable environment year-round. By combining thorough disease prevention management with minimized stress on the pigs, consistently high-quality pork is stably produced. Shipping age is 155–165 days, with pigs fattened over a sufficient period, and approximately 45,000 head shipped annually through mass retailers nationwide in a stable supply. An integrated traceability system covers the entire process from production to table, and under the brand standards for which trademark registration was obtained on May 10, 2023 as Rokkoku Ton, this domestic pork is widely enjoyed by many consumers.
