Raised in Ibaraki — a brand pork of overflowing umami, brought out by a feed with added tubers (imo).

Ajiwai Pork is a Japanese brand pork (meigara-buta) from Namegata City, Ibaraki Prefecture, managed by Osato Chikusan. Breed / crossbreeding: Female (Landrace × Large White) × Male: Duroc.

Ajiwai Pork, produced by Osato Chikusan in Namegata City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a brand pork that realizes consistent quality through unified sourcing of parent pigs and thorough feed management. The defining feature is the incorporation of tubers such as potatoes into the feed.

The umami components derived from tubers draw out the deep, inherent flavor of pork, imparting a subtle, natural sweetness to both the meat and fat. With no lingering heaviness and a refreshingly clean finish, the appeal never tires — and in simple preparations, the quality of the ingredient stands out. Whether in salt-grilled or sauté preparations, or in shabu-shabu and braised dishes, the full umami of the pork can be savored to the full.

The breed is an LWD three-breed cross — Landrace female × Large White male sows with Duroc male. Duroc is a breed known for the umami of its lean and its tendency toward moderate marbling — firmly supporting the rich meat quality and abundant flavor of Ajiwai Pork. By unifying the sourcing of parent pigs to the same farm, the uniformity of bloodline is secured, and by rigorously unifying feed content, individual variation is minimized for consistently stable quality.

Raised with devoted care to 160 days, approximately 2,500 head are shipped annually through Ryugasaki Meat Center. Trademark registered with brand regulations also established — the assured management system continues to support the maintenance of consistent quality day after day. Please enjoy Ajiwai Pork — a brand pork brimming with the umami nurtured by tubers, raised in the rich nature of Namegata City — at your table.
