Asahiyama Pork is a brand pork produced by Eaton Co., Ltd., based in Touma Town, Kamikawa District, Hokkaido. Raised on the pure subterranean waters of the Taisetsu mountain range and a designated all-vegetable compound feed, these pigs develop a beautifully balanced meat quality where fat and lean are in perfect harmony, with a deep, authentic pork umami. The brand name ‘Asahiyama’ is derived from the Asahiyama district of Asahikawa City, also known as one of Hokkaido’s most celebrated tourist destinations, evoking the grandeur of Hokkaido’s unspoiled nature. What Eaton is most particular about is freshness. Orders are processed at the company’s own facility and shipped fresh — never frozen — directly across Japan, shrinking the distance from farm to table to virtually nothing. Breed selection is also deliberate: a three-breed cross of Large Yorkshire and Landrace sows with Duroc boars, renowned for their contribution to superior meat quality. The feed uses the ‘Yume Series’ designated by the Japan Swine Industry Cooperative Association — a purely vegetable-based compound of primarily corn and soybean meal that eliminates unwanted off-odor and draws out a clean, refined flavor.
