Aomori Jiyoto is a brand pork fully managed from breeding pig development and improvement through to fattened pig shipment by Minoru Yoton Co., Ltd., based in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture. The company maintains a total herd of approximately 31,000 pigs — one of the largest in the Kamikita area — delivering high-quality pork under a stable production system. Particular emphasis in rearing is placed on a special feed incorporating ‘Jiyoso SL’ — created from natural materials including wood vinegar distillate, seaweed, and mugwort. These natural components not only improve the gut environment of the pigs and enhance meat quality, but also function to break down the characteristic off-odor of pork. Pigs born from a three-breed cross (Large Yorkshire × Landrace × Duroc) are given this designated compound feed for 60 or more days and raised slowly over approximately 175 days. Thanks to the effects of the natural-material-based feed, the sweetness and richness of the fat are pronounced while the aftertaste remains refreshingly clean — free from any lingering greasiness — and this is a defining appeal of the brand. The farm also practices circular agriculture: pig manure is reused as compost, and corn grown with that compost is then used again as feed — actively contributing to improving the regional food self-sufficiency rate and environmental preservation.
