Furukawa Pork

From Sapporo’s only pig farm — a brand pork that shines with an unwavering commitment to Hokkaido-grown ingredients.

Furukawa Pork is a brand pork produced by Furukawa Farm Co., Ltd., located in Toyotaki, Minami-ku, Sapporo City, Hokkaido. Toyotaki, in southern Sapporo near Shikotsu-Toya National Park, is a region blessed with cool, refreshing air and abundant nature. Currently the only remaining pig farm within the Sapporo city limits, the third generation of the family continues to carry on the production values handed down through the generations with devoted care. The pigs raised are a three-breed cross of Large Yorkshire, Landrace, and Duroc — combining the outstanding traits of each breed to produce pork of excellent lean-to-fat balance. The feed is a designated compound using Hokkaido-grown corn as the primary ingredient, with a finishing feed in the late fattening stage that incorporates non-GMO corn and 10% Hokkaido-grown wheat. This produces a finely-grained meat quality that draws out the authentic sweetness and umami of pork. Furthermore, from 90 days of age onward, only feed free of antimicrobial agents is used — a commitment to medication-free rearing that reflects the farm’s thoroughgoing stance on food safety. Shipping age is targeted at 180 days, with approximately 1,600 head shipped annually. Distribution is through channels including Seikatsu Club Cooperative and Daikin Chikusan, and nearby Hachiken-yama Kitchen also serves Furukawa Pork butadon — a brand that has taken firm root as a local favorite. It was also selected for the reception cuisine of a major international conference held in Sapporo in 2023, earning high recognition both domestically and internationally.
