Shonai Green Pork Boomin (SHONAI GREEN PORK BOOMIN) is a premium brand within ‘Shonai Green Pork’ — the brand pork developed by the JA Group in Yamagata’s Shonai district — a designation available only to pigs at registered farms that meet strict standards of breed and feed. The name ‘Boomin’ is a pet name meaning ‘everyone’s pig,’ given with the wish of connecting the love of producers with the smiles of those who eat. The Shonai region faces the Sea of Japan and is known as a rich agricultural area nourished by snowmelt water from Mount Chokai and Mount Gassan — a land that has nurtured high-quality agricultural produce including ‘Shonai Rice.’ In this rich natural environment, a unified breed of LWD three-breed cross (Landrace, Large Yorkshire, Duroc crossbred) is raised on a dedicated feed combining rice (feed rice) and barley — producing a fat of refreshingly clean sweetness with suppressed heaviness, and a moist, tender lean. The use of feed rice contributes not only to meat quality improvement, but also to the conservation of rice paddies in the Shonai plain and the resource circulation of regional agriculture. Slaughter and processing are carried out in an integrated system at Shonai Meat Distribution Center, processed in an advanced hygienic environment with no direct contact with outside air — delivered fresh.
