Joshu Rokkokuton

Raised on a feed blending six grains — wheat, barley, rice and more — a premium brand pork born of Gunma Prefecture.

Joshu Rokkokuton (Joshu Six-Grain Pork) is a brand pork produced by I-Pork Co., Ltd., based in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. As the name suggests, an original designated feed balanced with 6 varieties of grain — wheat, barley, rice, corn, milo (sorghum), and soybean — is used, and of the Rokkokuton brand produced throughout Japan, those produced in Gunma Prefecture are given the ‘Joshu’ prefix. By giving a feed combining grain-type starchy ingredients with high-nutrition legumes and miscellaneous grains, the unique umami of pork deepens for a rich, flavorful finish. The meat quality is firm, with a fine grain — the pale cross-section and white, beautiful fat are eye-catching. Even after heating, a gently melting texture in the mouth can be enjoyed. The rearing uses a three-breed cross — Landrace × Large Yorkshire as the dam line, crossed with Duroc as the sire line — producing a meat quality that combines both flavor and softness. Shipping is targeted at approximately 180–190 days of age, with the umami deepening further through patient, time-taking rearing. Production is consistently carried out at I-Pork Co., Ltd.’s designated farms — delivering stable quality under the quality management system of the Ito Ham-Yonekyu Holdings Group. The trademark ‘Joshu Rokkokuton’ was formally registered in May 2023, elevating the reliability of the brand. Even in simple preparations like shabu-shabu, the umami nurtured by the 6 grains and the sweetness of the fat can be savored to the fullest.
