Haruna Pork is a brand pork produced with integrated management from breeding through to shipment by OK Corporation Co., Ltd., based in Shintoson Village, Kita-Gunma District, Gunma Prefecture. In the rich nature spreading at the foot of Mount Haruna, the pigs are raised freely in the clear highland air. The greatest commitment of this brand is its proprietary feed design. All animal-based feed is completely excluded, with a low-fat dedicated feed centered on milo (sorghum), tapioca, and barley given. In the finishing stage for males, corn is not used — instead milo and tapioca are given in abundance, while barley-centered feed is given to females — causing Vitamin E and oleic acid (a type of unsaturated fatty acid) to accumulate abundantly. Vitamin E is said to prevent cellular aging, and oleic acid is said to be effective in preventing lifestyle diseases such as arteriosclerosis. Under an integrated management system with processes divided between Akagi Farm handling breeding and Ohara Farm handling fattening, shipping is targeted within 180 days under thorough quality management.
