Takumi Buta (Artisan Pork), produced primarily in Chiba Prefecture, is a brand pork raised by Ogawa Livestock Food Co., Ltd. based on many years of experience and solid achievement. A self-confident creation that the Ogawa Group — boasting a handling volume said to ‘rank in the domestic top 10 in the pork industry’ — has brought to life by concentrating all their trust and artisan techniques. The breed is a three-breed cross — Landrace × Large Yorkshire sow crossed with Duroc male — given feed according to proprietary feeding standards, fattened carefully over approximately 160–180 days. Shipping weight is a substantial 110–120 kg, finished to an exquisite balance of finely-grained meat quality and sweet fat. What Takumi Buta particularly values is the thoroughgoing hygiene management that supports food safety. After processing at a clean meat processing facility with ISO22000 certification, skilled carcass selectors carefully and strictly select each animal individually. Only pork that clears quality standards backed by many years of achievement can be shipped nationwide as the Takumi Buta brand. Slaughter is carried out at Chiba Prefecture Meat Corporation, with approximately 50,000 head delivered to the market annually.
