Golden Boa Pork (Awaji Inobuta)

The pride of Awaji Island — a rare brand pork that carries the blood of both wild boar and domestic pig.

Golden Boa Pork (Awaji Wild Boar-Pig) is a rare wild boar-pig breed brand pork produced by Shimamoto Shokuhin Co., Ltd. at Sangrier Farm in Minamiawaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. A unique multi-breed cross — Berkshire and Duroc progressively crossed onto a female wild boar — a brand the producer spent approximately 20 years building. Raised slowly over 270+ days — approximately 1.5 times the standard pig — the umami of the meat is concentrated to every corner. The defining feature is the sweet fat. With a low melting point, it has a smooth melt-in-the-mouth feel — with absolutely no cloyingness or heaviness, a major appeal. The lean is finely-grained — the powerful umami derived from the wild boar and the moist softness derived from the black pig harmonize exquisitely — the deeper the eating, the more the depth of flavor spreads. The feed uses a special blend combining Awaji Island-produced feed rice, beer lees, and sake lees — with antibiotic use controlled in the late fattening stage, realizing safe, reliable meat. Extolled on the TV program ‘Manten Blue Sky Restaurant’ as ‘extraordinary meat that elevates cooking by one rank just by using it’ — the quality is indisputable. With export achievements to Hong Kong and Macau — receiving high evaluation as a high-class brand pork from Awaji Island recognized by the world. The premium flavor can be enjoyed in various preparations including loin steak, braised pork belly, and wild boar-pig soup.
