Raised in the great land of Miyazaki — a premium brand pork finished with the natural sweetness of sweet potato.
Kansho Ton (Sweet Potato Pork) is a Miyazaki Brand Pork certified brand pork raised centered in Kobayashi City and Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture. ‘Kansho’ means sweet potato — the major characteristic unique to this brand is adding kansho to the feed in the pig finishing period. Miyazaki Prefecture — blessed with southern Kyushu’s warm climate and rich nature — has been known since long ago as one of Japan’s leading pig farming production areas — Kansho Ton has engraved a long history as one of its representative brands since the 1990s. Rearing is handled by Kakiki Pig Farm Co., Ltd., headquartered in Kobayashi City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The breed is a three-breed cross — Duroc male crossed with F1 sow (Landrace female × Large Yorkshire male) — producing pigs outstanding in the balance of meat quality and meat productivity. By carefully giving feed with kansho added in the finishing stage — the natural sweetness and abundant nutrition derived from sweet potato is slowly stored within the pig’s body. As a result, a gentle, plump sweetness resides in the fat — the entire meat finishes moist and soft. The appeal of this pork — one of drawing out the authentic umami of the ingredient by maturing over the sufficient rearing period of 160 days — is also a draw. Produced under a perfect management system of Farm HACCP and JGAP obtained — trust in quality is also extremely high. The rich fat sweetness and soft texture is also fully demonstrated in simple preparations such as grilling and stir-fry. Please do try at least once the deliciousness of Kansho Ton — nurtured by Miyazaki’s earth and sun.
