Yagorou Don OX is a brand pork handled by Taisei Livestock Co., Ltd. located on the Osumi Peninsula in Soo City, Kagoshima Prefecture. The name ‘OX’ derives from ‘Ohnari (Taisei) Livestock’s Cross pork’ — developed as a unique three-breed cross pig crossing Berkshire with Duroc. The Osumi Peninsula is blessed with a rich natural environment — in clean air and water, the pigs grow freely fully absorbing the sunlight. At the farm, a 2-site method separating production and fattening is adopted — with thorough hygiene management — a system is in place to deliver safe, reliable pork to consumers. Farm HACCP was also obtained in 2022 — the commitment to quality management is highly evaluated. A uniquely designed original designated compound feed is used for the feed — primarily milo, wheat, and feed rice given. By this feed design — the characteristic pork gaminess is suppressed, and the umami and sweetness of the meat is drawn out. By selecting and crossing breeds excellent in fat quality — the lean is moist and soft, and the fat has an elegant sweetness — a juicy flavor is the defining characteristic. The shipping age of 170–190 days — raised relatively carefully — leading to the deep flavor of the meat. Outstanding compatibility with preparations that can enjoy the authentic flavor of pork such as shabu-shabu and steak — also welcomed as a gift or for special tables.
