Komagatake Sanrokuton

At the foot of the magnificent Central Alps, Mount Komagatake — here grows a pork of sweet, clean fat and a character free of all heaviness.

Komagatake Sanrokuton (Komagatake Foothill Pork) is raised in the mountain foothills area overlooking Kisokoma-gatake — the highest peak of the Central Alps — in southern Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by clear air and rich nature. This brand pork, carefully produced one by one by Seki Yasuyoshi of Seki Pig Farm and with management and distribution handled by JA Zen-Noh Nagano Prefecture Headquarters, is also handled at Nagano Prefecture supermarket ‘Nishizawa’ — supporting local tables for many years. The commitment in rearing lies in the compound feed designed for each growth stage of the pig. By giving well-balanced necessary nutrients, the pig’s naturally healthy growth is promoted and meat quality is stabilized. Thorough hygiene management and daily health checks are never skipped — realizing safe, reliable pork production. The coexistence of an environment supported by natural bounty and fine management by human hands continues to protect quality. The breed is LWD three-breed cross — Landrace × Large Yorkshire female crossed with Duroc male. The addition of Duroc blood produces a soft, moist meat quality. The defining characteristic is ‘minimal animal off-odor.’ The non-gamey, sweet fat is enjoyable — the simpler the preparation, the more the character stands out. Shipping is at 180 days of age, approximately 110–120 kg body weight, slaughtered at Nagano Prefecture Meat Corporation. Outstanding for tonkatsu and ginger pork stir-fry — also ideal for shabu-shabu and hot pot dishes. The non-cloying fat places little burden on the stomach after eating — a pork that can be casually enjoyed on daily tables. Annual shipments approximately 4,000 head — relatively rare, with the community-rooted production style as an appeal.
