Mikawa Pork

A consistent deliciousness proven by more than 30 years of history — a unified quality brand pork that Aichi Prefecture is proud of.

Mikawa Pork is a brand pork managed and promoted by Aichi Prefecture Economic Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Aichi Prefecture Keizairen) — a historical brand that has protected the quality standards of Aichi Prefecture-produced pork for over 30 years since brand standards establishment in 1988. The reason for long-standing support from consumers and distributors can be attributed to its stable deliciousness and thoroughgoing quality management. For the feed, an original blend independently formulating 6 types of grain is used. Particularly distinctive is the ‘feed rice’ blend. By incorporating rice as feed, not only is pork quality improvement realized, but also contribution to Japan’s food self-sufficiency rate improvement — the social responsibility as a producer is also fulfilled. Only pigs that have been continuously given this compound feed for approximately 180 days and reached a shipping weight of 115 kg can bear the name ‘Mikawa Pork.’ The breed uses Landrace × Large Yorkshire crossbred female (or the reverse) for the sow, crossed with Duroc for the sire — a three-breed cross. Through this combination, the meat productivity of Landrace, the feed efficiency of Large Yorkshire, and the meat flavor and marbling of Duroc are fused — a well-balanced pork is realized. The strictness of quality management also stands out. At the shipping stage, loin cuts are performed one by one for each individual — only fattening pigs that have met the certification standard after actually confirming the meat quality are given ‘Mikawa Pork’ certification. With annual shipments of 20,000 head at a large scale — the stance of not omitting individual confirmation work supports quality consistency. Active across a wide range of daily cooking scenes such as ginger pork stir-fry, tonkatsu, and hot pot dishes.
