Blessed by the gifts of the Seto Inland Sea — a Hiroshima brand pork raised on a six-grain diet.
Setouchi Rokkokuton (Seto Inland Sea Six-Grain Pork), raised by Taiyo Pork Co., Ltd., based in Hiroshima Prefecture, with integrated production from sow, is a domestic brand pork. True to its name, an original feed balancing 6 types of grain — corn, milo (sorghum), rice, barley, wheat, and soybean — is used, aiming to draw out the inherent umami and richness of the meat to the maximum. By combining starch-rich wheat grains with highly nutritional legumes and corn, the saturated fatty acid content rises — resulting in a finish where the sweetness and fragrance unique to pork stands out vividly. The meat quality is well-taut, with a pale vivid color tone and a clean white fat color as well. The coexistence of deep richness and a clean finish is the major appeal of this pork. The integrated production system of self-management from sow to shipping not only directly connects to quality and supply stability — it also makes tracing production history easy. By being raised under the same management policy from the day of birth, individual variation is unlikely to occur — pork of the same quality can be delivered to consumers every time. The production base of Hiroshima Prefecture is a land blessed with warm Seto Inland Sea climate and rich nature — rearing in a calm environment also contributes to reducing pig stress. Hygiene management at designated farms and entrusted farms is also thoroughly maintained — receiving high evaluation as safe, reliable pork both within and outside Hiroshima Prefecture. The production scale of approximately 49,000 head shipped annually also speaks to the presence as a brand pork representing the region. Outstanding compatibility with simple preparations that draw out the ingredient’s flavor such as shabu-shabu and ginger pork stir-fry.
