Ibaraki Jiyoton is a brand pork from Ibaraki Prefecture, raised under a devoted feed program and thorough hygiene management by Iijima Livestock Co., Ltd., based in Hokota City — distinguished by outstanding sweetness and depth of flavor. The breed is a three-breed cross of Landrace, Large Yorkshire, and Duroc — characterized by a well-proportioned meat quality and moderate fat balance. In rearing, a feed incorporating ‘Gloririch’ is given from the sow and piglet stage. When the pigs grow into fattening pigs, a supplement called ‘Jiyoso’ — made from wood vinegar distillate, zeolite, seaweed, and mugwort — is added. Furthermore, beginning 2 months before shipment, the dedicated Jiyoton feed with 82%+ grains and approximately 30% barley is combined — drawing out the umami of the meat to the maximum. Through this accumulation of staged feed design, the characteristic pork off-odor is substantially reduced, and cholesterol tends to be lower as well. Slow discoloration and minimal drip loss are also characteristics — the authentic umami and vivid appearance of the ingredient are preserved for longer. At the farm, group-unit rearing and management is rigorously maintained, and each time a group is shipped, the barn is vacated completely and washed and disinfected in its entirety — thoroughly resetting the hygienic environment to ensure stable supply of safe, reliable meat.
