Eeyan Sakura Pork is a brand pork managed by Mie Prefecture Livestock Business Cooperative Association, headquartered in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture — produced by 6 farms in northern Mie Prefecture working as one: Kobayashi Farm, Matsuba Pig Farm, Sato Pig Farm, Kubota Pig Farm, Yamazaki Farm, and Agata Farm. These 6 farms with distinctive individuality cooperate under unified standards — the production system of protecting quality as an entire region is a characteristic. The feed uses an original formulation of only pure plant-based ingredients primarily based on corn — steam-heated at 100°C to improve safety and digestibility. Through high-temperature processing, harmful bacteria in the feed are suppressed — making it easier for the pig’s gut environment to be regulated. Furthermore, by strengthening the Vitamin E blend, the antioxidant action maintains meat freshness and realizes a finely-grained, moist meat quality. Pigs raised to approximately 120 kg body weight over approximately 180 days are slaughtered and processed at Yokkaichi City Meat Center. At the shipping stage, strict selection is conducted — only quality individuals are shipped with the name ‘Eeyan Sakura Pork.’ High evaluation is also received in certification aspects. GI (Geographic Indication) registration means the production area and quality are nationally recognized — JGAP certification (obtained May 2019) and Farm HACCP (obtained March 2021) also prove safety and hygiene management. A designated sales store system is in place — delivered to consumers through quality-managed distribution channels. Annual shipments 60,000 head — boasting one of the largest scales even within Mie Prefecture. The ingredient’s umami and soft texture can be enjoyed in a wide range of preparations including tonkatsu, shabu-shabu, and yakiniku.
